Friends (female) II -:-:-:-:-:-
Ayako is Reiko's sister and is younger than Reiko by a year. However, she is better than Reiko in tennis ^^;; and always beats Reiko in tennis matches. She also likes Naoki - Naoki once tutored her and she began to like Naoki. Reiko revealed to Kotoko that initially, Ayako agreed to help Reiko win Naoki's heart and therefore, she (Reiko) asked Naoki to tutor Ayako, but Ayako herself fell in love with Naoki. In other words, Ayako is Reiko's sister as well as love-rival ^^;;. Ayako, like Reiko, is also very intelligent. She becomes a pair with Takendo (Kotoko's admirer and Ayako's classmate) - she probably started liking him when she saw how he cycled for all he was worth trying to get her to the tennis court in time for the competition. -:-:-:-:-:-

Reiko
is Kotoko's biggest love rival. She has been Kotoko's love rival since
university. Reiko is very intelligent and pretty and quite rich as well. She
is also rather good in tennis and is also in the Tennis Club with Naoki and
Kotoko. She later revealed to Naoki that she came to Tonan University
because of Naoki. In most people's eyes, Reiko and Naoki are a perfect
match. However, we can see signs showing that Naoki only treats Reiko as a
friend. For example, when Naoki planned to switch to the Faculty of Medical
Sciences to become a doctor, he told Kotoko but not Reiko. Kotoko found the
'cool' side of Reiko when she asked Reiko if she will be a doctor if Naoki
does, and Reiko replies no because she has her own aspirations. Sudou, their
Tennis Club senior, likes Reiko and always pairs Reiko and himself up for
tennis matches etc. Reiko doesn't fancy him at all ^^;;. Reiko later
graduates and works in a computer company [if I'm not wrong...^^:;].
Sasuiko
was Naoki's partner in the arranged marriage. She is the granddaughter of
the boss of a large corporation. Naoki agreed to the arranged marriage
because he did not want Pandai (Papa's company) to close down because
Papa has spent a lot of time and effort starting the company from scratch.
She is a very pretty and sophiscated lady. Sasuiko revealed to Kotoko that
initially, she intended to reject the arranged marriage with Naoki but when
she saw Naoki (Naoki saved her in the lift when the doors of the lift almost
closed on Sasuiko because Kotoko pressed the 'close' button instead of the
'open' button), she fell in love with him and changed her mind - she agreed
to the arranged marriage. [well... of course... I mean, who would reject
Naoki] However, Naoki later declined the marriage apologetically because the
one he wants to marry is Kotoko after all. Sasuiko, though extremely
heartbroken, accepts the fact because she knows that the one Naoki really
likes is Kotoko. She tells him that the reason why he treats her so badly is
because he minds her too much. [She is kind of like a love-rival to Kotoko,
and she is the most friendly love-rival of Kotoko.] She appears in Volume 9
and 10. 
(Irie)
Rika is actually Naoki's and Yuuki's cousin as well as childhood
friend. Rika is very intelligent (she frequently scores full marks for
examinations) and very pretty + cute (and very popular among guys). She has
been liking Naoki ever since she was two years old [gasp] and she once had a
deal with Yuuki when they were young - Yuuki was supposed to help Rika so
that Rika can get married with Naoki and become Yuuki's sister. Rika appears
in Volume 17 and 18 - she came back from America and stayed in the Irie
house for some a period of time. Rika later tells Kotoko that Naoki and she
are more compatible and that Kotoko should return Naoki back to her because
she liked Naoki much earlier than Kotoko. She also revealed to Kotoko that
she and Naoki had kissed before (their first kiss) and Kotoko is horrified
when she heard that, because Kotoko thought that Naoki's first kiss was to
Kotoko. Because of Rika, Kotoko felt very insecure (she felt that Naoki
might prefer Rika to her). However, Naoki later tells Kotoko that the one he
chooses is her, not Rika. Naoki also tells Rika that the reason why he likes
Kotoko more than her is because of the drive in her. Rika was heartbroken
and disappointed. Before Rika left the Irie house for America, she explains
to Kotoko that actually, she kissed Naoki (i.e. it was not a mutual kiss)
when she had to migrate to America with her family.
