Friends (female) I -:-:-:-:-:-
Zinko, in my opinion,
doesn't look as good as Satomi but is nicer to Kotoko than Satomi [important
note: that is only MY personal opinion... after some observation. you might
not agree with me, and you can always e-mail me some
examples/counter-examples. I'll be most interested to hear about them ^.^.].
She also has a boyfriend in university [I'm not sure about her boyfriend's
name, but I know he is sort of a pop-singer-cum-dancer-cum-guitar-player.]
Once, when Satomi is, as described by Kotoko, a pretty lady (though not very intelligent ^^;;). She had a boyfriend in university - Ryo. Ryo is very much unlike Naoki - he is warm and affectionate. They eventually got married when they were in their last year in university [hope I'm not wrong about the time] when Satomi got pregnant. However, when they were preparing for their marriage, they had quarrels mainly because of Ryo's mother who was very fussy (about matters like Satomi not being qualified to be Ryo's wife, that it would be a disgrace to Ryo's family because they got married when they were still studying, etc.). Satomi once told Kotoko that Kotoko was very lucky because she has a great mother-in-law who always helps and encourages her unlike many other mothers-in-law and the only problem she had in the family was Naoki. As mentioned above, Satomi and Ryo got married eventually and their baby is a girl called Yuki [or something like that]. -:-:-:-:-:-

Satomi
and Zinko are Kotoko's close friends and classmates since college - the both
of them are in the F-class in college (just like Kotoko) ^^;; and in the
Faculty of Japanese Literature in university (just like Kotoko) ^^;;. (They
did not switch to the medical faculty with Kotoko, though.) They had to be
retained for a year in university (just like Kotoko), but they did manage to
graduate the year later, while Kotoko was still studying in the Medical
Faculty. They (Zinko and Satomi) normally appear together in the manga.
Kotoko
left home after a heated argument with Naoki, Kotoko stayed in her house for
a few days. She, unlike Satomi, did not get married in the manga. 
Chris
comes from an extremely affluent family in England. Her full name is
Christina Robinson [or something like that]. She appears slightly later in
the manga, after Kotoko got married (around Volume 13), as a
foreign-exchange student in their university. She is a sweet-looking girl.
She says that she has a very very high criteria for her husband-to-be (i.e.
he must be extremely handsome, intelligent, etc.). Kotoko initially believes
it, but later finds out that Chris' opinion of 'handsome' is very different
from her (and basically everybody's) interpretation - it turned out that
Chris fell in love with Kinnosuke at first sight. Chris says that Kinnosuke
looks very handsome ^^;; and exactly like a prince. (She is apparently the
only one who thinks so.) However, Kinnosuke doesn't like Chris (at first)
and rejects Chris flatly, saying that his only love is and will always be
Kotoko. However, Chris doesn't give up and with determination as strong as
raging fire [that reminds me of Kotoko], she finally got Kinnosuke's love.
It turned out that Chris had a fiancé in England - he came to Japan to look
for Chris somewhere around Volume 13 in the manga, and unlike what Chris
said about him (i.e. he looks very ugly), he actually looks very handsome.
In fact, he looks just like Naoki, only with blond hair. In the last few
volumes, Kin proposed to Chris and Kin later met with Chris' parents; her
father did not accept Kin at first but later did, while her mother
immediately accepted Kin saying that he is very handsome ^^;;. They
eventually got married in England (with much protest from Kinnosuke who felt
that they should get married in Japan instead). 
Konomi
is Yuuki's girlfriend in college school. (The picture on the left shows
Yuuki and Konomi when they are in college. [Note the change in Yuuki.] )
Konomi appears later in the manga, around Volume 12 - Kotoko was a trainee
teacher (sort of) at that time and she found out that Konomi (who is a
Secondary 1 student, like Yuuki) has been secretly in love with Yuuki ever
since primary school. Kotoko therefore tried to matchmake Yuuki and Konomi.
Yuuki, like Naoki, appears aloof at first, but we will find out later that
Yuuki actually likes Konomi as well. Konomi's character is somewhat like
Kotoko's. She is also in the F-class and likes an A-class guy (Yuuki). She
is a little 'stupid' and clumsy [no offence!] (though she is rather good at
knitting, especially when compared to Kotoko), but is an innocent,
simple-minded and sweet girl. She is slightly (just slightly) less
persistent and fervent than Kotoko when it comes to love life (i.e. though
her love for Yuuki is as strong as Kotoko's love for Naoki) and would have
given up initially had Kotoko not spurred her on. Konomi once got 97th in
school for the exams because Naoki tutored her (actually, it was supposed to
be Kotoko who was tutoring her, but Kotoko fell asleep in the midst of
it)... [is Konomi slightly more intelligent than Kotoko then?]. Konomi and
Yuuki are still in college and dating when the manga ended.
Tomoko
is Kotoko's first nursing friend (i.e. friend she met when she transferred
to the medical faculty). She is friendly, sweet, innocent... basically an
'angel'. However, much to everyone's shock (and horror), she loves the sight
of blood...! Tomoko once said that the reason why she wants to become a
nurse was not only because she wanted to help save and heal lives, but more
importantly because she love operations ^^;; (you know, the sight of blood
and the feel of 'slitting'). Tomoko is very popular among the guys in the
medical faculty (the doctors-to-be).
Marina
is another nursing friend of Kotoko. She is rather unlike Tomoko - she is
more of the type who goes to discos regularly and has many boyfriends. She
wants to be a nurse so that it will be easier for her to find a husband who
is intelligent and rich - and her ideal lover is Naoki! She, as well as
Miki, tries to win Naoki over from Kotoko [goodness... what friends they are
^^;;] but of course to no avail ^.^. Funetsu later fell deeply and madly in
love with Marina, but his love was not reciprocated because Marina felt that
Funetsu was always second best to Naoki ^^;;. Funetsu, to a certain extent
like Kotoko, was very passionate even though Marina did not seem to fancy
him much. Marina, however, was touched by Funetsu's love for her.
